24: Live Another Day – 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM (Ep.9)

24: Live Another Day rolls on, and the action picks up right where we left off, which is with the President getting his shit blown to smithereens, we think. We haven’t seen someone get blown up in the middle of Wembley Stadium like that since…..I don’t have a good joke about the England national team on hand, but those guys suck (I’m an England fan and you’re lucky this entire blog post isn’t littered with jokes about how terrible they are). Let’s go……..

-We open with an image of smoke coming out of Wembley, where President Heller got them bombs over London dropped on him….didn’t he? Then we head to a gathering featuring the British PM, Audrey, Mark and other government figures who just watched Heller get hit. The British PM gives Audrey some spiel about her father being courageous, when he was ready to throw him to the wolves, what, two or three hours ago? But they do learn the clones are getting taken down, so Margot is being a good little terrorist….isn’t she?

-They’re also watching the bombing at the CIA office, and Ritter asks why Margot would bomb an empty stadium when Kate tells them about Jack’s plan with the President. CTU, CIA, they’re all inept according to 24. Navarro has the nerve to say that would never happen and it is impossible, which leads me to believe there could be a spinoff where Kate goes through life with people not believing her, even though she is obviously right. That is, if Jack dies, and I am not entirely sure that is possible.

-Margot and Ian are getting rid of the drones and somberly celebrating their assassination; you would think they would have cake or something. But Ian notices something funny on the video they watched, and they realize that they (Jack, Chloe and Heller) figured out a way to doctor the feed to make it look like he was there. Someone missed a chapter in Terrorism 101, apparently.

-Jack and Heller are now leaving Wembley and Chloe tells him Margot caught on to the plan with one more drone left, and she is PISSED, so now they have to avoid that. Jack puts him in a car with Belcheck and Heller tries to order him around, but yeah, this isn’t the States and Belcheck only listens to Bauer, who says no phones or contact. Heller also says something that makes me mad: “I listened to you before, Jack, not this time”. WHY THE HELL NOT? Does Jack have a track record of being wrong about things? Quite the opposite, actually. So what the fuck is the problem? Did you REALLY think Jack was gon’ let you die on these streets on his watch? Nah, you gotta suffer through that Alzheimer’s, bruh. Suck it up. He eventually listens to Jack, because he is smarter than that.

-Jack calls Kate and tells her to hook up a call to Heller’s staff, which includes Audrey, who wants this shit on speaker. He tells her that her father is still alive and lets them in on his plan, and that they also need to intercept the final drone. Jack is en route to Margot’s location, but Audrey thanks him first, Jack says, “you’re welcome”, Mark is in the background like, “I’m gon’ lose my wife to this mufucka, b”. That was some solid editing there. Mark is so mad, but I think he is coming to the realization that he isn’t stopping Jack. He just gotta walk away.

-Kate is still wondering where the hell Jordan is, but Navarro tells her not to worry about it. No one cares where this dude is at all.

-Meanwhile, Margot and Ian are furious about Heller’s plan, although they don’t know it was Jack’s plan to start with. She sets out a plan to bomb Waterloo Station, which is a part of the subway or the tube, I guess as the London folk like to call it.  She also wants Heller to be alive to know he caused this, but with the Alzheimer’s, he might just forget and this would have all been just to be petty, which we already know she is.

-Chloe is trying to focus on Margot’s location for Jack, but she needs help, so she calls Adrian, who doesn’t want to help Jack, but he’ll help Chloe. They must have had the sex, right? He is sprung for her, but they figure out where she is. Kate and Ritter get to the building and they get instantly shot at.

-So, wait a minute….Jack is in a helicopter, which just left Wembley, and Margot doesn’t think to go after that? Jack just flying around with no cares in the world, chillin’. Catelyn Stark ain’t built to be a terrorist.

-Jack gets to the building and starts doing what he does, while Kate and Ritter are getting rained on with gunfire. Margot and Ian are doing the last few things they need to do to hit that tube station. Jack finds out Margot is on the fifth floor, but gets shot at and says he needs to figure out another way to the apartment unit. Meanwhile, Audrey and the British PM and ’em start to evacuate the station. A lot is happening here, but not a lot is happening here. It is one of the best parts of 24.

-Ian tells Margot that they gotta go, but she wants to stay and watch the missile hit the station. He tries to leave, and she pulls a gun on him. He must have thought, “nah, she wouldn’t do to me what she did to Simone, she didn’t even want to kill her, but I’m special, I’ll be fine”. Yeah, not so much.

-Jack is repelling outside to come in through the window, and Ian gets to shooting at him, but he is terribly overmatched and when he comes to the window, Jack tosses that mufucka out the window like it is nothing and then shoots Margot. While holding Margot with one hand, he manages to override the missile with Chloe’s help with the other hand and send it into the Thames River (I am pretty sure that is the Thames River, don’t get mad at me if I’m wrong because I’m not here for geographical accuracy). Margot tries to guilt Jack and say that people died today and that it was on his hands. He says, “the only death I have on my hands is yours” and proceeds to throw Margot out the window like he was throwing trash in a dumpster. Actually, the trash would probably get more respect.

-Heller asks Belcheck his name and Belcheck tells him it is one word, like Madonna. This dude got jokes now, huh? We still need to see his backstory. Maybe that is another spinoff? He drops Heller off at the embassy and the Secret Service pulls guns on him, and Heller is like, put those fuckin’ things away, he is with me. He should be asking how they got tricked so easily. He reunites with Audrey, Mark and the British PM, who has the scene of the show. He thanks Heller for doing what he did and Heller is like, “I’m sure if the situation was reversed, you would do the same” and the British PM gives him this look like, “I absolutely wouldn’t have done this, you nutcase”.

-Jack is at Margot’s spot, they’re taking everything out when Heller calls Jack to tell him he is safe and everything is cool. Mark gotta be sweatin’ like shit. Kate and Jack shake hands on a job well done, and Kate gets a call from her contact in the British police force, we saw him in the first or second episode. He calls to tell her that Jordan has been found dead in a garage, along with the bullshit assassin, so her and Ritter head there. Kate calls Navarro to tell him and he is like, “Fuck, I’m screwed”. Navarro calls Adrian to tell him what is going on and Adrian is like, “I have nothing to do with this”. Navarro wants to leave the country, but Adrian wants the override device in return. Bam, something to carry us through the last four episodes.

-Kate and Ritter get to the garage where Jordan is, and they’re all putting the pieces together, with Kate grabbing Jordan’s phone. Meanwhile, Jack tells Chloe that he needs her back at the CIA office to look at the override device, but Chloe is like, “I’m done, b”. Jack can’t believe that everyone isn’t about that life like he is. Chloe gets in a car with Adrian, who thanks her. Hell, he wanted the override device….was he just keeping Chloe out there to keep tabs on that?

-Navarro shows Jack to a room with the override device, and he tells him about Jordan, and Jack is like, “hmmmmmmm, something is up, b”. Jack tells Kate that the dude with Jordan is a professional, and gets her to send him a fingerprint. Navarro is like, “we got this” and Jack is like, “okay, it’s a race now”. Jack Bauer is fucking awesome.

-Navarro, Jack and some IT guy are in the room with the override device, and all I am thinking is, “Jack, you better not leave that room”. The IT guy tells Jack that this device is about more than the drones, but then Jack gets a call from Audrey to thank him, aka, he gon’ get dem draws. Then he gets a call from his buddy about the fingerprint, while Navarro puts the IT guy in a sleeperhold. Jack gets the information that the assassin has ties to Navarro, and the lightbulb goes off. However, by that time, Navarro is already gone with the device.Jack gets to some security guard, says “make a sound and I will kill you”, takes his passes and punches him in the face anyway because he is JACK FUCKING BAUER. The chase is on now, and Navarro only makes Jack angrier by shooting at him.

-Chloe and Adrian are at a gas station, while Adrian talks to Navarro and they set up a meeting spot to exchange stuff, override devices, passports, etc.Chloe kisses him, so there is that.

So, three episodes left and still no time jump. I figured Jack had time for a nap or some shit, but Navarro is fuckin’ around now. Did Simone die? She gotta come back. Something doesn’t sit right with me about Chloe, I don’t trust her all of a sudden. But it’s 24, you shouldn’t trust anyone but Jack, EVER.

24: Live Another Day – 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM (Ep.8)

24: Live Another Day rolls on, Still no time skip. At this point, I think this is now a two-series thing, 12 episodes each. What are they gon’ do, just decide to take a terror break for like, 10 hours? I don’t know. Anyway, let’s go……

-I honestly forgot Simone got hit by a bus. Like, HARD. Which makes it even funnier that Jack just dropped her on the ground at the hospital and pressed on that nub.

-Kate and Navarro also don’t seem to realize that SHE GOT HIT BY A MOTHERFUCKING BUS THO.

-Margot says Heller told her he would surrender if she destroyed the drones, and the son is like, the fuck are you doing? He is totally gonna double-cross his mother, who NOW decides to keep her word and have a conscience.

-“If she dies, so be it” – My buddy Mike hit me on Facebook and said there was a candidate for “Best Bauer Quote Ever” in this episode. This is guess #1.

-Navarro gets on the phone with the worst assassin in the world, who has no idea where Jordan is. How the hell did he get out of the water without dude noticing? That trail of blood ain’t good.

-Jack is so down for the cause it is hilarious, even after everything and even knowing that they will throw him in the bushes as soon as this is done.

-The meeting place is Wembley Stadium. SOCCER!

-Heller tells Jack he is resigning in an hour and he even says he won’t be a part of this, until Heller tells him about the Alzheimer’s, and gets all up in Jack’s face. He says Jack would do the same thing in Heller’s shoes and Jack is in for the plan. Shit, Audrey doesn’t even know, which means Jack will get blamed for this somehow.

-Heller goes to Mark to see if he is down with the plan, and damn, this has to be tough on Audrey. Jack and Mark knew about this and no one told her? She is about to lose her mind.

-First “dammit” when Jack calls Kate to tell her about Heller’s plan.

-“We have to find Margot, so wake the bitch up!” – Forget my other guess. It has to be this.

-Kate pulls a gun on the doctor to wake Simone up, and if Jack knew about this, he would be smiling. She does get the address tho, at least the last place Simone thinks she is at and she tells Kate about the disc Naveed told her about at the house. She starts to die and Kate gets on the phone, which is so Bauer.

-Mark needs to stop trying to talk to Jack and just figure out this plan. Jack doesn’t do well with feelings and shit. Just get shit done. Kate tells Jack about the disc and he tells her to call Chloe when she gets something.

-Heller goes to Audrey to look at a picture of his family. She doesn’t even know what is going on. Damn, Heller. She is going to be SO pissed.

-Jack and Mark sort out the plan and Jack tells Heller to meet him in five, talking to the President like a boss.

-Jordan calls Navarro to tell him that someone tried to kill him, telling him his location and everything. I can’t believe Navarro is trusting this terrible assassin.

-Jack cuts out Heller’s transponder chip, these mufuckas makin’ jokes and shit, I didn’t even know these were a thing. If there is another 12-hour joint coming, Jack will do a full-on surgery for one episode.

-They are making their way through the embassy but Jack’s map device is breaking up. He sees a fire exit, and I bet there is someone on the other side. Yep, there is a dude there and Heller tries to talk to him, but Jack punches him in the face and locks him in the bathroom. No time for talking in Jack’s world.

-I wonder how many laws Jack is breaking here? Gotta be at least 10.

-They need a chopper with no pilot? Of course Jack can fly a helicopter, BECAUSE JACK MOTHERFUCKING BAUER. I’m pretty sure we have seen him do this before.

-Navarro’s assassin is still tryna find Jordan. Come on, dogg, Navarro TOLD you exactly where he was. So of course, Jordan smacks fire out him with a crowbar or some shit and grabs the gun, and dude’s other gun. He knows that Navarro is behind this now. He gets stabbed in a fight, but he ends up shooting the assassin as well.

-Jack and Heller are coming up on Wembley, while the SWAT team get to the location Kate told them about. Hopefully this goes better than the first raid. They find a disc drive to be uploaded to Kate, who finds out that Jordan is gone, which she finds weird and she sends the shit to Chloe. Then she calls Jordan and gets no answer before talking to Navarro to ask about Jordan. Navarro tries to change the subject like shit.

-Margot is hiding out in some apartments and getting shit back online, and it seems like the son is all about getting his mother’s approval. She says stuff about justice and he is like, “fuck that, b”. He is a beast.

-Jack lands the chopper outside of Wembley because he is Jack fucking Bauer. Chloe tells Jack she is into the system, but it is going to take a few minutes since she is at a coffee shop talking loudly about drones and shit. That doesn’t seem very bright.

-Adrian calls Navarro to ask if Jordan is dead and Navarro is like, yeah I got this, even though he clearly doesn’t. Then Adrian calls Chloe to ask her to come back, and frowns through the whole conversation. What are they working on? That has to be the next storyline.

-Audrey is in the President’s room and Mark walks in. Heller left Audrey a note, then she realizes that he knew all along. Yep. She is PISSED. This is some terrible acting, but it’s so good in its terribility (it’s a word, look it up). Mark is like, “Do what you gotta do, but I listen to him, not you”. Mark made a turn this episode, I kinda fuck with him now.

-Audrey asks him who is with her father and Mark doesn’t even have to say his name, just someone he trusts. She knows who it is.

-Heller tells Jack he gave him a presidential pardon, and Jack doesn’t agree with it, but he will do whatever he is told. Then we have a split screen of like, 14 different things going on at once. Simone, Audrey, Chloe, Wembley, Jordan, basically 24 summarized in 2.5 seconds.

-Wembley! Soccer!

-Heller stands in the middle of the pitch and waits for something to happen, while Margot sees that it is him. She recognizes him, but does she fire the missile?

-Well. Shit. Goddamn. Shit. Motherfucker. That really just happened.

I’m still tryna wrap my head around what happened. We all thought he was going to get away, right? Jack is about to go all the way off now. 24: Live Another Day just went up a notch.

24: Live Another Day – 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM ET (Ep.7)

The action continues in 24: Live Another Day, and we are at the point where people are FINALLY starting to just listen to Jack Bauer, which is what you need to do in order to avoid mass casualties. Oh, and we have like, 14 moles up in this bitch. Moles on moles on moles. Let’s go….

-We jump right back to the scene of the bus accident, where Simone’s niece tells the police that Simone killed her mother. No hesitation to snitch at all.

-Back at the warehouse where Jack kicked a buncha ass last week, he frees Belcheck, who was taken into custody by MI-5, but Jack isn’t havin’ it and tells ’em they weren’t supposed to be there in the first place, which he is right about. Speaking of snitching, I suppose he’ll have to tell the President about this. Jack then goes to Kate, who doesn’t look at all like she’d just been tortured and killed two guys with her hands tied behind her back.

-Chloe finds out via surveillance that Simone was hit by a bus and tells Jack, but then she gets a message on her computer to “GET OUT OF THERE”. The British police are on their way up to her hideout. Who is tipping her off? That Alex cat?

-President Heller is conversing with his bitch-ass Chief of Staff before he gets a phone call from Jack, who brings him up to speed, especially about MI-5 kickin’ in the door on his operation. The British PM shows up and Heller gives him the business, to which the British PM is like, “Yo, you sick, bruh?”, confronting him on his dementia. Heller puts up a brave face on some “BITCH, I’M THE PRESIDENT” shit, but it doesn’t look like the British PM is convinced. He still agrees to go along with Heller, but don’t sleep on the double-cross.

-Margot calls Simone’s phone and dude in the ambulance answers, basically telling Margot everything that happened and where they are headed. So much for Jack’s earlier plan to keep Simone’s location on the low. Margot sends a dude to find out everything he knows about Simone, who is leading the “you gon’ die” sweepstakes for this episode.

-The CIA nerd, Jordan I think, he is looking through the files Navarro told him to avoid, when Navarro gets a phone call from the disguised voice he was speaking to at the end of last week’s episode. The voice tells him what is going on and to get rid of Jordan, and we learn that the mole is…….Alex, Chloe’s dude. Navarro asks Alex for a “cleaner”….Jordan jumps into the “you gon’ die” race.

-Jack and Kate arrive at the hospital to get the info on Simone, who is still in critical condition. Kate goes to talk to the young daughter, while Jack tells the doctor to stabilize Simone so he can question her. Torture in a hospital bed? I fucks with it. Meanwhile, the guy Margot sent is also at the hospital, tryin’ on these scrubs to blend in.

-Kate is talking to the daughter, who gives her the entire scoop on everything that happened. She learns that Simone has been going with “Shabazz” instead of her real name, and that Simone was trying to get them out of London, and the daughter wants Simone to die. Kate believes they can make Simone turn as she was trying to warn them, and Jack is like, “yo, we gotta wake her up NOW”. Poor Simone. She is fucked either way, because Margot is going to kill her before she tries to betray her again. She orders the house packed up and her son is like, “you ain’t gotta kill her”, but Margot points a drone towards the hospital. Tough love, my friends.

-Navarro brings Jordan into his office, and he comes up with some story about Jordan needing to go into the field to pick something up. Jordan is all “I’M IN THE FIELD, BITCH”, but he shouldn’t be so excited. I bet someone murderous is waiting for him.

-Mark and Audrey watch the British PM on TV warning his citizens about a terrorist attack, when Heller walks in and tells them the PM knows about his condition. He decides that, when they return to the United States, Mark has to set up a meeting with the Vice-President (who I don’t think we’ve even seen yet). It seems like Heller is resigning from his post.

-Jack wakes up Simone to get some info, and she recognizes him from the chase earlier in the season. Simone isn’t budging, so Jack puts pressure on her severed finger. Kate looks disgusted, but I have no idea why she is surprised. Jack JUST let her get tortured on the chance they MIGHT get information. He even tries to justify it with Kate, but man, fuck that. All bets are off. Margot’s dude finds his way to Simone’s floor, but Jack sees through his disguise easy and the gunfight is on.

-They catch the dude, but British police shoot and kill the man. Jack drops “DAMMIT” #1. They find out that he has been in contact with Margot, and they figure out that she is going to send a drone to the hospital, which needs to be cleared now. Kate goes to find the little girl.

-Chloe is in a coffee shop, setting up her laptop. Jack must have send her numbers from the phone they found on dude, but it’s a dead end. “DAMMIT” #2. Something doesn’t seem right with Chloe: she in on this shit with Alex?

-Jack drags Simone out of the hospital, and she doesn’t want to go, but she eventually says “yeah, my mom would totally kill me” and goes with Jack. Kate finds the little girl and everyone meets outside. Margot and her son see that people are evacuating the hospital and the first drone is sent. Shit is now officially ON.

-Jack, Kate and Simone find a car, but Margot sees them and another drone is sent. So now, Jack is on some Grand Theft Auto shit, outrunning drone missiles. We see the carnage that the first missile caused at the hospital, while Simone has no idea what is going on. He outruns another missile. This mufucka, b. They have one more missile left, but Jack gets stuck in traffic and drops “DAMMIT” #3 and #4 in no time. They get out of the car and we have my favorite moment of the episode: while looking for another car, Jack says to Kate, “follow my lead”….and then proceeds to punch a dude in the face. That’s his lead? That’s why I fucks with Jack Bauer.

-They continue on and they go into a tunnel, and they stop a dude in a car, take that shit and try to get Simone to the nearest CIA office. But they take the second vehicle, put a brick on the gas and trick Margot into wasting her last missile. Jack Bauer, dogg. Jack motherfucking Bauer.

-Jordan arrives at the the location where Navarro told him to go, and catches a slug to the arm, falling into the water. The assassin waits for him to come up, but eventually leaves. You know the dude isn’t dead, right?

-Mark meets up with the Russians and tells them that they’re not getting Jack until this situation is over. The Russian guy figures out that it was Mark that forged the President’s signature and he knows Jack’s history with Audrey, and that he doesn’t have much time to turn Jack over. These Russians are not playin’, b.

-Heller watches the shit going down at the hospital and calls Jack, who tells him that they have Simone and will get the info he needs. Heller says he wants to see Jack immediately, and he receives Margot’s contact information. What is Heller doing? Son changin’ sweaters on some Mister Roger’s Neighborhood shit?

-We get split-screens of Margot looking at pictures of her and Simone, and all I see is Catelyn and Sansa Stark. Shit is creepy. Also, we see Jordan get outta the water and looking in some discomfort that comes with getting shot.

-Heller gets on the horn with Margot, and I have no idea what Heller is planning. No one but the dude that gave him Margot’s number (dude is now in the running to be a mole, because we need MORE moles on 24) knows he is calling her, and the show ends with Heller saying, “my decision has already been made”. No clue what he has planned.

So, I doubt Jack will have to seriously torture Simone now, but he’ll probably give her a little nudge in the right direction. Will the Russians be patient? When is this time skip going to go down? At this point, I don’t know how they’re going to manage that. But it’s 24. They’ll figure it out.

24: Live Another Day – 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM (Ep.6)

We reach the halfway point of 24: Live Another Day at a critical point. I’m still wondering about the time change because there are only six episodes left, but 18 hours in 24 time. Is everyone just gon’ stop and go to sleep for eight hours at some point? Is Jack finally going to get let off the leash? Let’s go…..

-Navarro and Ritter aren’t dead, I didn’t think they were. President Heller and the British PM just figured out it was an ambush, but hindsight is a bitch. The Americans aren’t endearing themselves to their hosts at all, and the British request all the information on the drones, to which the general doesn’t have a choice but to hand them over.

-Heller calls Jack to his office, and it’s about damn time. Meanwhile, the blond British lady, Caroline is her name, tells the PM about Heller’s condition….I knew there was something about her when I first saw her.

-Heller agrees to give Jack full autonomy to do his thing. He calls Navarro to let Jack go and he know he wants Kate working with her. It’s like she is getting promoted to the big leagues, but working with Jack Bauer? You might end up dead, or worse.

-Simone’s brother questions his sister’s devotion to the cause and gets a slap in the face for it. But he has a point because Margot goes straight to Simone, who is watching the boys wrap up Naveed’s body. She didn’t even have a choice in this, and killing Naveed in front of her might have been the worst move Margot has made so far.

-They see that Naveed called his sister to say they were leaving London, and Margot freaks out, ordering Simone to go and find out what she knows. “If she knows stuff, kill her” is the basic idea. If Margot is willing to kill this many people over her husband and a handful of others, and cut off her daughter’s finger, there is no telling what she will do.

-Jack got his artillery….shit is about to go down. Mark goes to visit Jack and tells him to stay away from Audrey. Two things: one, you better get outta Jack’s face because you have no idea who you are messin’ with and two, Jack is busy saving the world (AGAIN), leave that man alone and let him cook.

-Jack then calls Chloe and Belcheck to make a plan, and we switch to the British PM getting a call from Heller, who tells him to hold off on sending the army into the streets right now because Jack has a plan. The British PM knows who Jack is and is pretty skeptical of it all.  Caroline gets in his ear again. I don’t like the cut of her jib.

-Kate meets up with Jack, and he learns about her husband and Kate’s bitterness towards herself for letting it happen. Bitter towards yourself? Jack knows something about that.

-Mark goes to see Audrey about her visiting Jack, and he tells her Jack said he’ll be gone soon. Mark is so damn insecure about this. There are WAY more important things to deal with right now and like Jack said, he’ll either end up dead or in jail at the end of this (50% chance, anyway). Selfish bastard. Ain’t no one tryna worry about you right now.

-Mark gets a call from the Russians, who get an order from Heller to take Jack, the one that Mark forged in Ep.1 or 2. Mark is like, “Slow down, homie, we kinda need him right now”, but the dude wants Jack bad. Mark buys some time and sets up a meeting, but the Russian guy knows something is up. See where being insecure gets you?

– Jack lays out the plan: he needs Kate to be a pawn for Karl Rask, who knows Margot, but the guy wants him dead because Jack tried to pull a fast one on him. Kate might have to get tortured until Jack gets the information he needs. Nothing like some good ol’ 24 torture. The liquid pain with Chloe was just the appetizer. He wants to inject her with something to make her pass out, and she is down with the plan. This chick is fuckin’ nuts: Kate and Jack HAVE to end up together, but I get the feeling one of them will die when this is over.

-The CIA nerd, Jordan, finds some information pertaining to Kate’s husband’s case, and he wants to do more digging, but Navarro puts him off on some “we busy right now” shit. What’s this shit about now? 24 just doesn’t throw this shit out there for no reason.

-Simone meets up with the sister to find out what she knows, and her niece comes to give her a hug. Her conscience is getting destroyed right now.

-The British PM and Caroline, via surveillance, find Jack and they see him putting a passed-out Kate in the trunk, so instead of telling the Americans, they decide to handle it themselves. This won’t end well. The Americans are doing a good enough job of screwing it up already, do you really need more cooks in the kitchen?

-Jack gets to Rask, who is out $200,000 and one of his men, who Jack concocts a story about being a rat (it was really Jack) and takes some lumps for it. They get Kate out of the trunk, but they have something to counter the drug Jack stuck her with. How convenient….fuck did Jack get Kate into? We learn Belcheck has tracked them and is pointing a sniper rifle at them.

-Simone tells Margot that Naveed’s sister doesn’t know anything, but Margot is like “Fuck that, kill them all, everyone”. Margot does not give a third of a fuck about anyone. Simone gets a dinner invite, so shit is about to go down.

-Speaking of, Kate gets woken and chained up, and they want to know what she told their guy (Jack’s story) to make him snitch. We see the tools of torture getting laid out, and this is NOT going to end well for Kate, who gets slashed on the leg for starters. Any other show, you would think that she is getting rescued, but not 24; this is going to get rough. She is probably having second thoughts right about now, and if she isn’t, she does when she gets doused with water and the jumper cables come out. Kate gets the dogshit shocked out of her, Belcheck is like, “Y’all need to hurry the fuck up”.

-Jack is put through the ringer by Rask, who wants to know who helped Jack set up the account his money is supposedly in. Chloe can’t find the name in the employees’ section, so she tells Jack that Rask is bluffing, which he is.

-Side note: Jack got frisked….no one saw the earpiece? These villains ain’t shit.

-The drill comes out now and Belcheck tells Jack they’re going to kill Kate, but he gets gun-butted by a British MI-5 agent. They’re about to raid Rask. Kate looks in all sorts of pain, good Jesus.

-Rask thinks he is extracting money, but he is really doing is allowing Jack and Chloe to access their network and get information on Margot. Kate is pleading for her life in the other room, or at least buying some time. Right before Rask hits enter, MI-5 rush in, just before Kate is about to get a drill in the forehead. She ends up attacking the dude and stabbing him in the back, with all with her hands tied behind her back. Hmmmmm….she should get her own series.

-Jack fights his way to hit enter on the computer and succeeds, because he is Jack fucking Bauer, while Kate avoids getting shot (who knows HOW she got her hands free) and shoots the second guy. Yeah, they’re lining her up for a spinoff if Jack dies.

-Jack gets to Rask, but MI-5 get involved and ruin everything, and Rask takes a grenade and blows himself up; some murder-suicide action in the house.

-Chloe tracks the bank account to Simone’s phone number, and she is getting ready to have dinner with the sister. She pulls out the knife, but first she tries to warn the sister and tells her to take her daughter and get the fuck outta dodge. The sister knows something is up and goes to call the police, but Simone stops her and in the struggle, kills her, of course. The young daughter sees this and runs outta the house, and I think she is going to get hit in traffic, but instead it is Simone. She basically falls right into the police’s lap. I see a torturin’ in her future.

-Navarro goes to a quiet place and calls an obviously-masked voice to tell them about Jordan finding some issues with Kate’s husband’s case. Turns out Navarro was most likely the mole who sold the secrets to the Chinese that her husband was accused of Of course he was. Because, 24: There Is ALWAYS a mole.

I got my wish, as this episode sets everything off. All we needed was undercover Jack to get things poppin’, but the British are getting in the way, now the Russians are getting involved, who knows where the Navarro thing is going to go and I still wanna know Belcheck’s backstory. 24: Live Another Day is starting to come into focus now.

24: Live Another Day – 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM ET (Ep.5)

You know what? It’s great to have 24 back on the air, because with the other two shows I’m watching, Game of Thrones and Mad Men, there is a lot of thinking to be done. And that is absolutely no slight on Live Another Day, because it is serving its purpose: maximum entertainment with minimal thinking, and good enough acting to carry the writing, which is pretty straightforward. There is nothing wrong with that at all. Let’s go…..

-We resume with the military taking Jack into custody, and Lieutenant Fuckboy wants to put Jack down for shooting his men, but as Kate points out, they weren’t killed because Jack didn’t want to kill them. Can we make a list of every single person that has doubted Jack or wanted him dead? Shit would go for years.

-Kate contacts Chloe, who says she will help Kate get the information she needs from the flight key Jack took from Tanner. Chloe can make anyone a super-hacker, apparently. It doesn’t seem all that difficult.

-Margot (I had to delete “Catelyn Stark” three damn times before getting it right) tries to comfort her daughter, who isn’t really receptive because, you know, her mother just had her damn finger chopped off. Then Margot goes back to the control room to intimidate Simone’s husband some more, and something is up with her son, whose name I think is Ian; he keeps looking at Naveed (the husband) on some shifty shit.

-Chloe and Adrian work together to figure out where the override code for the drones is in the deceased Yates’ program code. I still can’t shake the feeling that something went down between them on a personal level.

-Meanwhile, Kate tells Navarro everything she knows from Jack, and he calls the President to let him know, going over Mark’s head. Mark is an awful Chief of Staff, man. He might lose his job AND his girl when this is all said and done.

-No “dammits” from Jack lately, but the President hits one for the counters. Mark then tells Heller that he is bringing in Jack because he figured the President would like to talk to him directly. Everyone tryna be friends with Jack at some point.

-Navarro tells Kate when she returns to the office that even though she was right and got what she needed from Jack, she still has to leave the force. They are all but pushing her to the side of Bauer, which is never a bad side to be on. Sure, you might be an emotional mess by the end of it and hell, there is a good chance you might die, but hey, you take the good with the bad.

-Margot does an internet video to tell the public why she is about to unleash the drones on London; basically, she wants Heller to give himself up to her for the attack that killed her husband, and she will back off. That is ABSOLUTELY not happening, but she will probably earn some sympathy from more than a few people.

-Adrian is like, “yo, we helped ya boy out, let’s get outta here”, but Chloe isn’t having it. She is in with both feet now, and she hit that frown, like, a double-furrowed frown to let you know she is serious. I saw Mary Lynn Rajskub on Californication a couple weeks ago, and she smiled. It really confused me. I’m not used to seeing her not frowning.

-Naveed asks Margot to go and see Simone upstairs, where he proceeds to her that he put a trace on the video he sent out for Margot, which will get the authorities on her tail. Yeah, way to go, dumbass. I think we just figured out why the brother was looking at him all shadily.

-Audrey goes to see Jack in the room he is being held in, and they have a moment, ooooooooh lawwwwwwd, do they have a moment. How long before he gets the draws? Two hours? It will happen, I guarantee. I honestly have no idea what they were talking about because that is all I was thinking.

-The British Prime Minister shows up to speak to Heller, who tells him about the potential attack on London, but the camera switched to some blond girl beside him as they entered, so she has to be involved somehow. 24 isn’t good at hiding stuff like that. They put it right in front of your face.

-Back at Margot’s crib, the brother is giving Naveed more shady looks. Yeah, he definitely has this figured out now.

-Adrian wants Chloe to leave, but the Serbian cat steps in, so Adrian knows better than to test dude because he is absolutely not about that life. But Adrian tells Chloe that he loves her before leaving, which confirms something went down between them.

-We get footage of Navarro leading a raid at what they think is Margot’s house, but it isn’t Margot’s house. The brother figured out that Naveed put in a tracking code and tells his mother, who proceeds to get dude stomped.

-Kate gets Chloe on the horn again, and Chloe is going to teach her more computer stuff. She should really just be a professor or something, but Chloe would be the worst teacher EVER.

-Everyone is getting footage of this raid going down: the president, Kate at the CIA office, and Chloe. Kate warns Navarro that the drones are coming for them and he manages to get out, but some of his people don’t survive, I think. Yeah, that was bound to happen.

-Naveed is begging for his life with Margot, which is the worst ever because he is trying to moralize with a terrorist, and that probably won’t end well. He even manages to get a glimpse of Simone, who looks at him like, “SEE, I TOLD YOU THIS WOULD HAPPEN”, then Margot shoots him in the head. Son ain’t even get silent clocks. He was the worst.

So, will people FINALLY start to listen to Jack, or at least free him so he can go do his thing? How long before Kate and Jack become a team? When will Audrey throw Mark in the bushes for Jack, and how far will Mark go over the President’s head to prevent that from happening? A solid plot-moving episode of 24: Live Another Day.

24: Live Another Day – 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM (Ep.4)

We’re still waiting for the time lapse that is supposed to take place in 24: Live Another Day. I figured there would be one every couple hours if they’re gonna fit 24 hours into 12 episodes, but we’re on the fourth episode and nothing yet. Anyway, let’s go…..

-Jack just caused a bunch of chaos by shooting a couple people in the leg (creating a diversion, he calls it). Poor dude that ran up on Jack while he was running through the embassy. Son went to sleep with the quickness and when Chloe was like, “you need a passkey”, Jack yoinked that shit up. Chloe then tries to guilt Adrian because he got Jack caught on purpose, but she should know by now that an international hacker leader doesn’t care about that sort of thing.

-Belcheck is trying to figure out how Chloe is going to get Jack out of the building, but we learn that the two have something in common: Jack saved both of their lives. I can’t wait to hear his story about the Serbian mob.

-Kate and Ritter get into the embassy and start the hunt for Jack, while the military is on the lookout as well. Meanwhile, Jack finds Tanner in a room, and lies to the guy who is watching Tanner. Dude doesn’t buy Jack’s story, so he gets pistol-whipped for his trouble and Jack takes Tanner’s flight key anyway. Mufuckas gon’ learn, dammit. He escapes and while Kate and Ritter try to get Tanner to tell them where Jack is, he won’t budge since no one would listen to him except for Jack.

-Jack is in the basement of the embassy, realizing that he can’t get out. Chloe is the best, man. She stays telling Jack that he can’t get out, he is going to prison, etc. etc., and she should know better than anyone that Jack doesn’t care. He is going to find out what is on that flight key, with or without her help. Some solidly terrible acting in this scene. I love this show.

-Skip to Margot’s house, where her daughter Simone and her bitch-ass husband are in bed and he is concocting a plan for them to leave. Right….that is going to go very smoothly and y’all will just ride off into the sunset without her looking for you. Jesus. He knows when the security guard is gone and he has keys, so don’t worry, everything will be fine. Because she rose to the top of the terrorist ranks by being compassionate. Did we mention you’re going to take her daughter as well? Dumbass.

-Kate calls Navarro to tell him what is up, while Jack finds the communications room and finds a few hostages along the way. He makes Chloe promise to give the information he finds to President Heller if something happens to him, then they realize the flight key is encrypted and they don’t have time for that, especially with the military bearing down on him. So he gets a hostage to open the door and shoots a couple Marines, but he doesn’t kill anyone, Jack knows better than that.

-Margot and Simone are in the kitchen, and Margot gets her to spill the beans about her husband’s plans to split. Simone is all, “I love him”, but that isn’t going to help her at all in this situation. When are people in 24 going to realize that terrorists don’t care about anything but terrorism?

-Heller gives a rousing speech to the British parliament about the drone attack, and it seems to be working out well. Mark gets a call from Navarro about the whole Jack-hostage situation, which is right up Mark’s alley; anything to make Jack look like the bad guy.

-Jack is still uploading the information, and it’s taking a while, which makes Chloe think Adrian is trying to screw Jack again, but we learn that something is going on between Chloe and Adrian because he says, “I’m doing this for you, not him”. Well, that answers that question. Mufucka is jealous.

-Jack then talks to the marine leader outside, saying to stay back and everything will be good or he will kill the hostages, which he won’t do at all. Son all but gives them some orange slices and shit. He just needs time to upload his stuff and they’re giving him that time. The marine dickhead outside wants blood, though.

-Kate and Ritter try to talk to Tanner, who doesn’t want to hear it because Jack is the only one that trusts him, and Kate buys it. Ritter doesn’t, but he has been wrong far too much already for me to give a fuck what he thinks. Kate starts putting two and two together, so she is finally coming over to the side of Jack. All it took was a couple conversations and a headbutt to the face.

-Heller finishes his speech and finds out about the Jack situation, and Audrey damn near falls over at the sound of his name. But she is the only one who thinks this is for real, while Mark obviously isn’t a fan of this and Heller doesn’t know what the hell is going on anyway. Can you see where this is going yet?

-Simone enters her husband’s room, his name is Naveed, it turns out. But Margot is with her, and Naveed is going to find out what she is all about. She gives him a chance to back out of leaving and pilot the drones like he said he would, but Naveed says he won’t. So what does Margot do? Orders her security to cut off one of Simone’s fingers…not Naveed’s…..Simone’s, her own daughter. If you ain’t know Margot was about that life already, you do now, dammit.

-Shoutout to the guys at the Bald Move podcast calling Margot and Simone “Catelyn and Sansa Stark”….I never realized how much Simone does look like Sansa. It’s kinda eerie.

-Kate and Ritter talk to the marines to try and talk to Jack, but the marine guy isn’t having it. Kate calls Navarro to try and get them to hold off, and he’ll try, but he tells her that the President is going to call Jack directly. Jordan, the IT guy with the thin moustache, tries to get Navarro to listen to Kate, but we learn he has feelings for her and might be biased. Feelings never work out for anyone in 24 and besides, she’s gon’ end up sleeping with Jack anyway.

-Jack and Heller talk on the phone, and Jack tells him the plan of the impending attack. The best part of this is when Heller asks Jack why he didn’t come to him first and Jack is like, “Um, y’all made me into a terrorist after I saved this country a thousand friggin’ times and I had to go into hiding, so forgive me for not trusting you”. Fair e-fucking-enough. This buys Jack a little more time, and Audrey is the only one who is like, “he has been right plenty before, what if he is right now?”. Mark is frownin’ pretty good.

-Chloe shows Adrian what these drones can do, and he still gives no semblance of fucks. He’ll have to die at some point, my guess is Belcheck. The marines make their plan to go in and get Jack, they’re just waiting on Heller’s word, while Kate talks to Navarro and tells him she thinks Jack is innocent; hell, all of her information about Margot and family checks out. She makes a plan to get into the com room through the ceiling. Very Bauer-ish.

-Audrey flips out on Mark for not telling her sooner that he knew where Jack was. There are personal agendas all over the place here. He is scared of losing Audrey to Jack, Audrey is scared for her father’s presidency, and there is the whole threat of a terrorist attack, plus the personal history between them.

-The standoff is coming to a close, with the marines getting ready to blow the door, Jack inside holding it down, Kate crawling through the ceiling and Ritter outside trying to hold off the marines. Kate yells to Jack, who shoots and that speeds up the marines looking to blow said door. She manages to get into the room and tell Jack that she does believe him and she has a plan to get him out of this alive, which entails him becoming her prisoner, and Kate taking the flight key. The marines are mad they don’t get to kill Jack, who has to be pissed Heller gave the word to go get him.

-We end with Naveed sitting at his desk, controlling drones and such, while thinking what an idiot he was to think he could get out. He better not be thinking of another plan or else it’s his head, and probably Simone’s.

So, 24: Live Another Day rolls on. How pissed will Audrey be at her father? When will he realize he was wrong? Does Jack have anyone on his side besides Chloe and now Kate? Does he even need anyone else? And who else will Margot hurt in her pursuit of terror? Stay tuned.

24: Live Another Day – 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM ET (Ep.3)

24 returned as the show we all loved (and eventually learned to tolerate near the end of it), and it continues in the third episode of Live Another Day. It was definitely a little slower than the premiere, but there can’t be explosions and crazy gun battles every week, but we get a little action. Let’s go….

-Jack and Chloe are tracking Yates and Simone, or better yet, Simone after she stabbed the entire shit outta Yates’ head, which Jack learns when he finds his body in the pub. He then gathers that she did it, and with Chloe’s help, they find out she is on the train (the tube, as the British say). Man, I’ve missed the hell outta Jack and Chloe working together. And we get an early “DAMMIT”, so things are off to a good start.

-Kate and Ritter round up the criminals from the last episode, and Navarro isn’t happy about the shootout in the projects. He orders them to let the guys walk, which they do, except for the ringleader because Kate is a fly-by-the-seat-of-her-pants kinda gal. She also shows some nice technique when she pistol-whips the dude in the back of the head.

-Jack gets on the train and finds Simone, who is like, “who in the fuck IS this guy?”. She creates a diversion by cutting herself with her little trusty knife, smearing blood on her face and yelling that Jack is trying to hurt her. Some poor dude gets in his way and, well, you can imagine how well that works out. But that slows Jack enough for her to get away, and I’m trying to figure out how the tube worker didn’t see her slip into the tunnel. Either way, it’s 24: the hell with logic.

-Chloe loses Simone because she is looking at a family, which reminds her of Morris and her son, which I completely forgot about. Jack is about to go in on her for losing Simone, but then she tells him that Morris and Prescott died when they were hit by a truck and starts to cry, so Jack scales it back a little and gives her a hug. See, he isn’t a complete dick. He knows more than anyone what is like to lose family.

-We switch to Audrey and her Chief of Staff husband, Mark, who is basically telling her that her father ain’t shit and isn’t fit to be the President. He wants her to convince the President to back off addressing the British parliament, who are pissed about the whole drone thing, then he forges Heller’s signature on an order to hand Jack over to the Russians for some old shit he did. He’ll do anything to keep the President and Audrey away from Jack, mostly because he knows Jack WILL get Audrey back, and he might die in in the process; at the very least, get his ass whupped.

-Chloe figures out who Simone is, and then who her mother is, which is a terrorist. Damn, it’s so hard not to refer to Michelle Fairley as Catelyn Stark, but alas, her name is Margot and she has a thing for gardening. She greets Simone upon her return, but she is wary about Jack. Simone’s husband greets her as well, but he isn’t happy about her sleeping with Yates to get what her mother wanted. There is always one family member in 24 that is on some “I don’t know if we should be doing this” shit. Which means he’ll probably die, and his little conversation with Margot solidified that.

-Jack needs a new identity to get to the President and prove that the drone attack was a set-up, which means he needs more tech help, but Adrian Cross is like, “Dude, you got some nerves runnin’ up in my spot with guns and demanding shit”. But he says please and Adrian agrees to it….or does he?

-Kate and Ritter take the bad guy, Basher, to some dudes that he has beef with in order to get the information she needs, which he eventually agrees to. She’s pretty good at what she does, even Ritter has to admit to that. But he wonders how she didn’t know her husband was selling secrets to the Chinese, and she wonders the same thing. So tortured….so right for Jack. She’ll come around.

-A quick look at the U.S. Embassy sees a big-ass protest over the drones, and Tanner being driven into the lion’s den. We don’t spend much time on it, but I assume that’ll be a major part of the next episode.

-Margot expresses her concerns to Simone about being followed and being more careful, while stitching up her leg wound. Margot is NOT to be fucked with, people, not one little bit. Hell, later on, she watches her daughter seduce her husband, because she knows the husband isn’t 100% on board with the cause. Yeah, he is gon’ die.

-Audrey tries to convince Heller that he might not be up to talking to the parliament, but she has to know that he is going to do what he wants to do. He is the President of the United States, dammit. Men in power are going to do what they want. That goes just about how you figure it would.

-Jack gets his credentials and heads to the Embassy, but wouldn’t you know it? Adrian does something to make sure Jack is flagged by security, because he is sick of his shit, and fair enough. But you better make sure he gets caught.

-Heller starts to speak to the parliament, who immediately start yelling him down and asking questions about the drone attack, and like Mark said he would, he gets flustered. Don’t worry, though: he’ll be fine. Next episode, he’ll make some big speech and get the people on his side. I love this show.

-Jack does indeed get flagged by security, but it’s Jack friggin’ Bauer, so you know he is gon’ get away. He steals a guard’s gun after a good knee to the chest, but he is spotted by Kate and the chase is on. Oh yeah, Jack shoots a couple of protests to start some chaos so he can get away, so we have our first innocent bystander getting shot. Again, I love this show.

It was a good plot-building episode of 24: Live Another Day, but I still have questions about how a 24-hour day gets wrapped up in 10-12 episodes. They’ll have to start skipping ahead in time soon, but either way, I’ll be here for it.

24: Live Another Day – 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM ET (Ep.2)

I absolutely didn’t know there was a second hour to the premiere of 24: Live Another Day until I was writing the recap for the first one. So yeah, let’s go…..

-We pick back up with goth Chloe walking the streets while the CIA tries to pick up the pieces from the explosion that went down in their office. Kate gets a phone that was taken off Chloe when she was picked up and calls a contact in the British police force. I’ve seen this guy before, I’m sure it’ll come to me eventually, if you know, help me out. Anyway, she blackmails him to get the numbers she needs as he has been working for the CIA for three years. Kate is pretty good, man. She will definitely be working with Jack at some point.

-Ritter is still so damn mad about Kate working on this case as she is taking his shine. Well, bruh, if you weren’t busy getting choked by a dude in handcuffs, maybe she wouldn’t be here right now. Navarro isn’t buying it and tells him to do his job. It’s so weird watching this dude be whiny if you know anything about The Wire.

-Chloe makes her way to her hideout, where we find out she has become a “hacktivist”, which I don’t even like writing because it is a stupid buzzword, but it is what it is. She works for Adrian Cross, who tries to get his merry band of hackers to pack up and leave because, well, Jack friggin’ Bauer knows where they are and he knows that name.

-You know what needs to happen? A frown-off between Chloe and Don Draper. The world would shake.

-Right on cue, Jack busts through the door and starts yelling about Derek Yates, who he believes is the one behind the plot on the President’s life. Adrian starts talking about his organization’s credibility, but for all he says he knows about Jack, he doesn’t realize that Jack gives not one single, solitary fuck about his credibility, he also has a gun and he will get the information he wants one way or another. Chloe knows this and is like, alright, we’ll help, all you had to do was ask me, damn.

-Jack is aided in this ambush by Belcheck, who helped Jack break Chloe out and we learn was in the Serbian mob, I can’t wait to hear about how he met Jack. I’m sure that is great.

-I gotta say, Jack looks impressed with Chloe ordering around the hacker crew. He didn’t know she had that in her. I think that is a look of being impressed. Jack doesn’t have many expressions.

-We find out that Derek Yates is holed up in some apartment with a gang of drugs, and he was the guy at the end of the first hour saying, “it’s done”. We find out he is joined by some blond girl who just wants to have the sex. Who was he talking to? Catelyn Stark, y’all! You might know Michelle Fairley from other stuff, but most probably know her from Game Of Thrones (although I see here she was also on Suits, another show I have to watch, apparently). He set up Tanner for the drone hit for Margot, although I’m going to have a helluva time not calling her Catelyn Stark. She sets up the drop to pay him.

-Tanner gets asked a bunch of questions by Capt. Greg Denovo, who it seems was his friend before all this went down.It doesn’t look good for the homie; Yates did a really good job of making sure all his info-planting bases were covered. It also doesn’t look good that Tanner had JUST gotten his weekend pass to see his wife revoked, so there is motive. The captain doesn’t believe him at all.

-The President (it’s William Devane, you’ve seen him in everything) and Audrey are speaking with the British Prime Minister (Stephen Fry, who I know from the British Whose Line Is It Anyway?, but he has been in a bunch of stuff). Heller steps away and gets word of the drone attack (which is in Afghanistan), and two of the dead are British, so that is going to throw a wrench into getting this base finished. Heller wants to tell the PM himself, but he gets word from his people and gives the President a “You motherfuckers” look, although I’m sure it would have been more eloquent coming from a Brit.

-Mark, the Chief Of Staff, then gets word from Navarro that Jack escaped and took Chloe with him. Navarro says that was his goal, but Mark is pressed to pin the assassination plot on Jack and threatens Navarro’s career. This guy is an asshole. You gon’ get found out, bruh.

-The hacker crew is gettin’ their work on, and Chloe is trying to talk to Jack about what he has been doing, which he isn’t having. Chloe wants to know why Jack is doing this for a government that screwed him (them, really) over, and Jack thinks he owes Heller, which Chloe deduces to Audrey. Jack always thinks he owes someone, which often gets him into trouble. Chloe goes right back at him, which Jack needs. I think I’ve missed her more than Jack.

-While looking for Yates, a hacker that kinda looks like Lily Allen stumbles upon the drone attack, which they instantly attribute to Yates. Cross finds out where Yates is and gives Jack the address. But Chloe goes with him because Jack is going to need communications help. Just like old times, my friends. Shit is like A Tribe Called Quest getting back together.

-Heller wants to talk to the British parliament and police and hand over Tanner to them for interrogation. Mark thinks that isn’t a good idea. Heller says something about apologizing from the heart and Mark is like, “ain’t no one tryna hear that shit”. He then says Heller isn’t at the top of his game, which seals it: Heller is now doing this to prove a point. Great. That always works out. Mark wants Audrey to talk to him, but Audrey wants to give her father a chance, doing a debate prep session.

-Yates and his girl watch the drone attack on TV, and he tells her they’re going to kill the President with them. He wasn’t supposed to say all this stuff to her, which means he gotta die. Heroin is a helluva drug.

-Kate tells Navarro she knows where Jack and Chloe are, which is where Yates is, so shit is about to go down.

-Tanner is being transported to London, while the debate prep session begins and everything is going well for Heller, but he makes a mistake about the number of soldiers killed and Mark starts going IN on him, much like those in the British parliament would. Audrey yells at him to stop, while Mark is getting off on this, it seems. Dude’s evil comes out in this scene; he is no Stamper from House Of Cards, that’s for sure. Heller is like, “fuck this, I’m the President, I’m out, and oh yeah, here is dude’s name, he was a married father of three, eat a dick”. Audrey walks out on Mark, and I may have clapped.

-Back to the Yates apartment, and Jack makes his way through the building with Chloe’s help. This shit is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO 24. I love it.

-The guys protecting Yates notice on their cameras that one of their men is hanging from something. Well done, Jack, well done. He gets to the unit where Yates is and confronts the men, and hits them with a deal for their lives: “Look, I can tell you consider yourself a pretty intimidating group. You probably think I’m at a disadvantage. I promise you, I’m not. Give me Derek Yates and I’ll give you the opportunity to walk out of here unharmed. I suggest you take it.”. That was on some Taken shit. See, I know I’m not about that life because if someone said that to me, I’d be like, “yeah, dude is RIGHT in there, second door on the right”.

-Of course, the dudes don’t take it and inevitably get their ass kicked, faces and necks slashed, shot in the chest, all kinds of shit, because MUFUCKAS DON’T LISTEN. Yates hears this, packs up his shit and peaces out through a window. Jack just misses him (of course) and starts to follow. Yates and the girl walk RIGHT BY Kate, Ritter and the police (who just miss Chloe, of course), even telling them that Jack is upstairs with a gun and he is crazy. I have no idea how 24 has gotten away with making police look inept for eight-plus seasons, but shit is kinda funny. Dexter did the same thing for Miami police. I’d be so pissed.

-Kate and ’em trap Jack, who offers to surrender if they just go after Yates, but then he is shot (less than two hours? That didn’t take long) by one of the dudes from upstairs and a firefight ensues, allowing Jack to escape to the basement, so naturally, Kate follows him. Jack snatches her up and tries to tell her about the plot to kill the President, why he has been tracking Yates, etc. She tries to fight back and catches a headbutt for her troubles, but at least Jack planted the seed in her head. He breaks out of the basement and Chloe is waiting with a car that she hotwired and stole. Again, Jack is impressed. She asked Jack what he has been doing for four years; Chloe, what have YOU been up to? I fucks with it, whatever it is.

-Jack did manage to get a USB drive from Yates’ room, and Chloe finds drone designs to confirm their suspicions, but Yates built in a self-destruction program and she can only save a little of it.

-We wrap up with Yates and his girl at some random bar, hiding out, and he says he is looking for a new buyer for his work, calling Margot a devious bitch. Something doesn’t seem right here. He goes to the bathroom and the girl busts in, and he thinks he is going to get lucky. What does he get? A small knife through the brain. She even turned that shit. That was a solid TV kill. She takes the case with the device takes off her wig and calls Margot, telling her that Jack (some American, she says) followed them, almost caught them and Yates was planning to double-cross her. We find out the girl (the 24 Wiki says her name is Simone) is Margot’s daughter. Of course she is, because 24.

So, 24 is back and if you are a hardcore fan, you should have been happy with the return. It felt like it never left. Some people have complained about the obvious stuff we see (they haven’t alluded to it yet, but there HAS to be a mole in the CIA), but at this point, in the ninth season, 24 fans aren’t here for new shit, especially since it has been gone for so long. Just let Jack cook.

24: Live Another Day – 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM ET (Ep.1)

I must admit, I didn’t get into 24 until after 2007, when I moved to Toronto and my friends had the first two or three seasons on DVD. It was really the first show that I remember binge-watching. From there, I ran through it to catch up to the beginning of season 7 (I still haven’t seen the “Redemption” TV movie that came out before that season; I might at some point). By the time it wrapped up after season 8 in May 2010, it definitely wasn’t touching its heights, but throughout the cheesiness and downright impossible scenarios, it was entertaining. I feel the same way about Sons Of Anarchy, but 24 is a little more well-done.

Kiefer Sutherland is back for a 12-episode run because I assume someone needs money (who doesn’t?), and that Touch show got thrown in the bushes, so here we are with “Live Another Day”, which takes place in London four years after the series supposedly concluded. It is being overseen by Howard Gordon, Evan Katz and Manny Coto, who all worked on the show in the past, and Gordon went on to help create Homeland, which explains why the second season of that was a bootleg 24.

Jack Bauer is now a fugitive from the American government for some fuckery, even though he has saved them countless times. Really, that’s it. If you have ever watched 24, you know it’s true. Ready? Let’s go….

-The show opens with the CIA’s London branch tracking someone, which we quickly learn is Jack, and it felt pretty good to see the split-screen action that 24 is famous for. They close in on their target, but of course, Jack is hip to them and gets outta dodge and kicks some ass along the way, but eventually, there are just too many agents for him to outrun. I noticed one thing, though: no one runs through gunfire as calmly as Jack Bauer does.

-In the CIA office, we meet Steve Navarro, the head of the show and played by Benjamin Bratt from Law & Order and some other stuff. Yvonne Strahovski plays Kate Morgan, and I know her from Dexter, where she played the lead character’s girlfriend until the end of the show. Kate is leaving the CIA because her husband, Adam, was caught selling secrets to the Chinese (we don’t meet him this episode). Kate comes up with the theory that Jack wanted to get caught, because she knows his history and Jack Bauer doesn’t get caught, unless he wants to, but Navarro brushes her aside because no one in the 24 world listens to anyone, ever.

-President Heller is in London to meet with the British government about drones. We last saw Heller as the Secretary of Defense, but has since moved up in the world. We also meet his Chief of Staff, Mark, who corrects the President on a joke he made in a meeting, and his COS is named Mark, who I have in my notes, “looks shady from the jump”. We learn that he is married to Audrey, Heller’s daughter, who was involved with Jack, but suffered a breakdown and went into a catatonic state. Jack Bauer’s love life could probably end up being a spin-off. A sad, death-filled spin-off. Anyway, I was right because he is the first person Navarro calls, and Mark sets the wheels in motion to have Jack sent to Special Activities, a nice name for “We Gon’ Torture The Shit Out Of You Until You Tell Us Something”. He definitely knows of the Hellers’ history with Bauer.

-On the military side, we meet Lt. Chris Tanner, who is in charge of controlling a drone, but fails to follow orders and gets a weekend pass with his wife revoked. Hus superior is a bit of a dick, but we’ll get back to these guys later.

-Jack is brought into the CIA office. We meet another agent, Erik Ritter, played by Gbenna Akinnagbe, who played stone-cold killer Chris on The Wire (y’all know how I feel about The Wire). He isn’t a fan of Kate because of her husband, and like most of the characters on 24, he’s kind of a dick. He snitches to Navarro about her asking questions about Jack, and it is because he is getting her job when she leaves at the end of the week. There is a solid chance he won’t make it out of the day alive. Navarro tells him to cool his jets; he was Adam’s friend as well, and believes that Kate didn’t know about the betrayal.

-Navarro then goes to Jack on some, “tell us if you’re here to kill the President and we won’t send you to get tortured”. Jack doesn’t flinch. Have they not read any files on him? No one has tortured or been tortured more than Jack Bauer. He even calls Jack a terrorist, and he still doesn’t move. Then we go to this Special Activities place, under the CIA office, and who do we see, getting injected with liquid pain? Chloe!!!!!! Turns out Kate is a smart one.

-Mark, the COS, is looking at Jack’s file, which says that he has killed at least 59 people officially, but that number is probably closer to 7,000. We also get to see Audrey, who is recovered from her breakdown, we think. Mark gets word of Jack’s capture and is advised to tell the President, but he keeps it to himself. See? SHADY. He gon’ learn today, though.

-Kate puts the pieces together that Jack wanted to get caught and when Navarro won’t listen, she locks him out of the interrogation room and confronts Jack, who finally flinches a little when she says he is after something or someone. That gets her booted out of the office immediately, and Navarro continues to tradition of mufuckas not listening on 24. That should be the tagline: 24 – Mufuckas Still Not Listenin’.

-But she has some Jack in her (which she will later, HI-YOOOOOOOOOOOO) and tasers the shit outta the security guard escorting her out. She finds out Chloe is down in Special Activities and it all becomes clear. We see a guy messing with a power station outside the CIA, and he is either helping Jack somehow, or plotting against the CIA, hell, could be both. We get some more split-screen action and Ritter is being cocky, telling Jack he read cases of how bad of a man he was back in the day. Suddenly, the lights go out and Jack gets his Bauer on, while handcuffed and chokes Ritter unconscious. After he is free, Jack rolls up on the dude who was torturing Chloe and gets him to take Jack to her. We finally hear Jack talk, and around 32 minutes (with no commercials), we get our first “Dammit” of the series, which means it is OFFICIALLY on, even if it is under his breath. He gives Chloe the Pulp Fiction treatment with a needle to the chest and they peace out, until they are caught by Kate. She almost gets them, but Jack alerts the guy above ground and he shoots a hole in the ground to get them out. Kate is good, but she ain’t fuckin’ with Jack, not yet. This is the sequence 24 fans have been waiting to see.

-The President is in a limo with Audrey, and we learn he has some sort of disease, similar to Alzheimer’s where the mind starts to go. He tells Audrey not to tell Mark; he just wants to get through this meeting with the British to get this military base built and get these drones poppin’. Keep that in your back pocket.

-Navarro and Ritter are trying to figure out what the hell just happened, with an explosion in the building and no sign of Jack and Chloe. Kate is like, “I told y’all mufuckas to LISTEN”, and Ritter is mad as shit. Kate and Navarro step to the side and she pleads to go back into the field and find Jack, and she was getting somewhere before basically threatening Navarro. So yeah, she’s turning on the agency at some point. Mark my words.

-Jack and Chloe split up, and Jack gives her a phone to basically track where she is going, which we find out in the next episode.

-We get back to Tanner, who runs into a major problem when someone takes over his drone, which targets where his superior and a bunch of other soldiers are and blasts everything to hell. Some dude says into an earpiece, “it’s done”, and we get the clock signalling the end.

I’ve said to a couple people that watching this episode of 24 is like putting on an old shoe: it was comfortable, it fits everything we’ve seen from the show to date and even though it is formulaic as hell and borders on ridiculous sometimes, it is wildly entertaining and sometimes, that is all that counts. Let’s do this.
